Hi Everybody,

I've got the standard half moon switch on my model A and I'm getting a little persnickety (?) about having to break from my bass line (or solo) in order to do the switching. I considered moving the switch down to the right end of the organ, but I think for me the ideal thing would be to have a foot switch. I heard about one that can be mounted to the swell pedal which is intriguing...I think it was a momentary switch, which might work for my style of playing.

Would this kind of footswitch require a special mount? Is there an online resource for these? Can anyone comment on their pros/cons/coolness/problems/etc.?

    Thanks!

      Re: alternative Leslie switches

Some time ago I also tried to make a footswitch, first with light switches, later on with small press switches. Unfortunately, non of these options were really satisfying... The light switches often caused loud "pops" trough the speakers (adding capacitors to this system didn't really solve this problem), the small press switches often did not react (still tremolo when chorale was needed). BUT, there's hope! [:D] Today I worked on a system which should also work with light switches but only has to switch 6 volts instead of 230 (or 110) volts by using a relay. In my case, I have two 6 V / 250V 8A relays which are capable of switching the leslie motors on/off and slow/fast (normally 250V 2A switches are used). Probably, this system needs capacitors as well, but that's only to prevent any pops if they occur. I played my Hammond today with this new switch and I didn't notice any pops.

When I finshed the complete system (in a box) I'll post some pictures. [:)]
