converting upper type leslie motor to lower type

Can the "downward hanging" motors used for the upper rotor be converted to the "upside down" types used for the lower rotor? It looks like all I would need would be a few parts. I put a downward motor out of an 825 leslie in my 21H but it's in the way of the amp.

Yes, you can do that. If two speed, you need a stronger spring on the slow motor for it to operate correctly or it will constantly be engaged. You'll also have to cut through the plywood board and remount the motor and adjustments. You will also need the flat mounting metal bracket for "upside down" conversion or just buy one on ebay.

Tonewheel general sell the springs and washers for $3. However, download one of the leslie manuals from www.Captain-Foldback.comthat has a good sidecutaway showing the spring placement.Page 10 ofthe 122/222 manualhas a good one. I notice the springs are also on opposite sides of the spindle thingy. You might try swapping the existing spring around to see if it works. The pic DOES show that one spring has more windings than the other though.</P>
