Re: Gulbransen Theatrum

Theatrums arrived in 1971 with a revised model in 1976. The technology is solid state but I don't think you'll find much digital in the first one as it's really based on 1960's electronics. Reliability can, as you know, be an issue with Gullys!

This is an all-flute organ, so the tab voicing is the same as the drawbars. Only the Piano and Harpsichord are non-flute. It has a built in Rotosonic leslie and the sound is rich and warm, but not really theatre organ. It sounds like a Gulbransen!

One thing to note about the Theatrum. In order to shoehorn it into the small horsehoe console, they shifted the pedals to the right which makes it a little uncomfortable to play.

I like the Theatrum but given the long drive and the fact that you already know it's faulty, I'd be inclined to pass.

It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.
