• where to research my wurli

i just picked up a wurlitzer 4040 from a guy locally haven't been very productive in finding any info about this specific model. basically all i've been able to find after hours on google is that it was introduced in 1966...not real helpful. i'd like to get to know more about it and how to repair it. it makes VERY faint sounds, but only when the reverb is activated. i popped the back off and see a speaker on a swivel that has caught my interest! this is my first organ and i know little to none about them. luckily the guy i got it from had all the original schematics that came with it so i'm hopeful that i will be able to repair it. any direction that would lead me to getting to know more about it or common repairs would be much appreciated!

Welcome to the Forum. The answer to your question 'where' is 'here'! I'm no expert on the innards of a '66 Wurli 4040, but there are those on here who are, so fear not - they'll be along shortly!

You've got the schematics, which is a huge plus point. At a guess, I'd say you're into a rebuild of the power supply (almost a MUST on an organ this old), and some serious contact cleaning for starters. That rotary speaker is called the Spectratone, BTW.

Our usual Forum warning applies - do be careful, there are some lethal voltages in there.

It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

      thanks for the input!

i was expecting that i'd be able to find all kinds of info on the web when i got this thing home, but i was mistaken! i'm typically under the assumption that anything you could ever want to know already exists on the internet. i'm getting bits and pieces here and there that have been helpful though.
