Yet again they're 'playing safe' with the dated, old-fashioned clunky cabinet. FGS Lowrey stylists, at least present a mock-up of that model just to see the feedback, if nothing else. I still think that it's another great organ that could be even more appealing in a contemporary cabinet, vis-à-vis Louvre, ELX, Emporio etc. It's like man in de-mob suit v man in Armani suit. Cracking piece of kit though, and I'm glad to hear the Style improvements - it was badly needed.

That would be an interesting looking organ.

We were in the same quandary when designing the larger SR series models and we opted for 'safety' with some good looking but traditional cabinets. In Japan, they produced some very different versions like this SR7 variant in gloss white. They also did 'wood' versions of these.

Personally I find its one of the best sounding Lowrey’s yet, and operationally for the home hobby player it’s as good as it gets.

Remember there have been quite a few TOTL Ateliers (Even 900s) traded in for a Lowrey, even though the Ateliers are cracking organs.

Each to his own though.

As usual, that sounds worse than a <£500 arranger.

It sounds about the same as my Yamaha 2000 arranger, but the Yamaha isn't just another cheap <£500 keyboard. I paid a whole £900 for mine!! ;-) And while Lowery boasts 459 voices, my Yamaha not only has 793 voices, but they are of exceptional quality, and quite similar to the Lowrey stuff!!

So . . . who needs 793 voices, or even a mere 459??!! :-P As someone who is *completely* satisfied with a 44 stop organ . . . like it's ALL there; and wonders why anyone would ever want an 80+ stop organ, or what they would do with all of those extra stops, I do really like the abundance and diversity of the extra voices on the arranger keyboard, and use them extensively when playing with vastly divergent and nostalgic styles.

Some of my favorites include songs of the 50s like "Never Felt More Like Singing the Blues" with its electric geetar and piano alternate (sounds just like the original); or all the great sliding harmonica voices for doing stuff like Jerry Murad's "Cherry Pink . . ."; or all of the Glenn Miller Big Band styles, with really great clarinet, sax choruses, along with a host of trumpet voices et al.

Can't imagine wanting the megabuck Lowery thingy, when you can do all that stuff, and better with a mere fraction of the price.

The fact that Lowery peddles their $$$$$ stuff to unsuspecting senior citizens stretches my concept of ethics. :devil: Seniors who have little or no musical background, will never get one of these contraptions running.

When I bought my Yamaha keyboard, I sort of felt like this instrument was the perfect fit for me, allowing me to play all kinds of music that couldn't be played on a piano or organ. I had a whole big band at my finger tips, and it was wonderful. So . . . I gave a couple of them to family members who were accomplished pianists, optimistic that they would have as much fun as I was having. They never did get anything out of the instruments beyond using them as a tacky electronic piano!

Whether Lowery, or Yamaha arranger thingies, unless you instantly (almost) gravitate to one of these modern music marvels, they will probably represent a total waste of $$$. And what Lowery is doing is . . . .

Ya know I have 2 Lowreys and also a S 910 Yammy keyboard. Also got a Fischer Grand that I haven't touched in 2 years. I have owned every make of modern organ you can name.

I prefer the Lowrey over the others. Many of you like the Technics, I owned a FA1 and found the sound thin. I had an ELX1 that sounded superb but was, IMHO a bear to program.

My point is, you have preferences. The fact that my prefereces differ from yours doesn't make me inferior.
Were all different, that's what makes the world such an interesting place.




HOWEVER: Bottom Line - Lowery is the BEST, and if you don't agree, you should make an appointment with your audiologist

Yep, it is his opinion. This forum is made up of nothing but those with their own, fairly strong, opinions! :)

I have a Lowrey and love it and I'm glad those that don't have one love whatever blows up their skirts. And I generally just ignore snide comments about Lowrey unless I want a laugh.
