  • Roland Atelier AT30R Faint Sound Problem Any Suggestions Please

Hello Organ Enthusiasts, sorry to be such a pain but...as well as my Bohm not working at the moment I have another problem. Before I got the Bohm I bought a Roland Atelier AT30R, not had a problem with it. I was using it yesterday, then today when I switched it on the sound is very, very faint through the speakers, and the headphones, with a crackling sound. The volume has to be turned right up though to maximum to just hear it. There is no difference between the volume or quality of the sounds between the speakers and headphones.

This has happened before some months ago, but when I tweaked the echo and volume for the mic it came back on. Tried that today and nothing.

Yesterday the volume pedal didn't seem to be giving me full volume, but thought nothing of it.

It would be a shame to sell the as spares and repairs. It would be a real shame if neither could be fixed. Now I have 2 organs in need of repair and no Organ to play.

Thank you so much for all the help you have all given me already, I am not having much luck with electronics.:'(

Just ordered some Isopropyl alcohol, which I will use to clean every connection inside the Atelier. What I have decided to do if it isn't unclean connections is to remove the problem circuit-board and take it to have it looked at and have caps replaced or whatever is needed. Don't know if it is possible but I might have a circuit-board made based on the original, but then it depends on price.

    One step at a time.

Organ fixed today, it turned out to be loose connection on the AMP that just needed cleaning and putting back in place properly. The Technician said the organ was very well looked after and should last a few more years yet. It was fortuitous meeting this particular Technician, as he also builds speaker systems up and is going to help build my speaker cabinets up also on this Forum for my new Classical Pipe Organ, with the right sort of speakers and slave amp for whatever I end up with. Also he loves working on Yamaha AR series as he says they are very reliable, and easier to work on then most. Also he has told me that the Atelier AT80SL might have bad caps as they plagued Roland up through the S and SL range so he will take a look when I buy but did recommend an AR100.

Just need my Bohm fixing now and I am ready to go.:->

Personally, I've not come across any AT80SLs with bad caps, and I don't think we've seen any evidence of that here on the forum. I'll ask a couple of my 'tame' engineer friends.
It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.
