There were 3 different EA boards used over the time of manufacture, and they are not easily interchangeable.
The SG12 cards have a code embedded into them which is used for activation of the various software options, if you change the card all the software will need to be re-activated using the new code. (You will need to contact Wersi to get new codes)
Contact Wersi studio Hochrhein https://www.wersi-hochrhein.com/firma_1.html who should be able to help you out if you are having problems.

          Hi Christian,

From memory, when I had my OAS organ, each organ has a unique “H” code, which you have to key in if you re-install OAS, and also give to Wersi to get the unique code for all activations. On a working model, you can get the “H” code from within the activations screen, but I have a feeling it may also be on a sticker on the board inside.

If you put a new board in, you will potentially lose any activations you have purchased, so you may need to go back to Wersi, as Bill has suggested, with your existing “H” code, the “H” code of the replacement board if indeed that works, and then prove what activations you have purchased, in order to get a new unique code for each.

If you were in the UK I would point you at Peter Armitage, who is the the Wersi Repair man of note for OAS and older. I am sure if you contact him with your error codes, he will be able to give you some guidance.

I have not talked to him for a couple of years, when I had my Verona, but always very knowledgeable and came to fix a power supply issue c. 2007/8 in my ex-Verona.

On the other hand, what better an excuse to go buy a new Sonic OAX, which is what I did.

          thanks

Just had a look at the pictures and from the screen it is showing OAS 5, (2003) which is really old and uses 2 x SG10 cards, not an SG12 card, plus OAS 5 is no longer supported.

From the error messages it may just need the drivers to be re-installed for the SG cards (There will probably be a yellow exclamation mark in Device Manager) rather than a physical fault, however sometimes the cards do become dislodged, so unplug them and plug them back in (Make sure the power is off) and then try loading the drivers again.

The drivers are contained in the c: /wersi/system/Treiber-Asio/WERSI OAS XP folder.
You activation codes should be stored in c:/wersi/system/modules.bin (Right click and select open with, then choose Notepad to see the codes in text form) as unlike the later OAS 7 system (R42 onwards) the codes are not accessible from the activation screen.

Hopefully the above will allow you to fix the problem, if not, then there is not much you can do, but still contact the site in my previous post as its possible they will still be able to help.

This is somewhat off tangent, but is "sound factory" regarded as a "must have" and at what price.?

If you want to do in depth editing of all the sampled sounds and effects in OAS, Yes, however the price is quite high at £395 https://www.musicstore.de/en_GB/GBP/...KEY0003121-000 naturally you can get a trial code for free by contacting Wersi which will give you 10 tries of the Sound Factory option.
If you want to read the full details and explanation of how to use it, it is contained within the OAS 7 Program Manual which can be downloaded here https://app.box.com/s/66hhv69wlocogjbex9dz4myi7k2telnr Page 25
There also articles on how to use it on the Wersiclub UK website here http://www.wersiclub-ukfocus.org.uk/...%20Factory.htm

                    Have fun

If you are interested in buying, talk to Luke at DV247 (UK arm of Musicstore) to see if they will cut you a deal, after all, OAS is no longer being developed, so may be happy to get some return vs no return, as it is only a code that you need, no actual physical delivery.

Am I right in thinking that having "Sound Factory" loaded may compromise the use of Akai samples etc.

No, OAS 7 has much greater storage then it appears to have, however you cannot edit Akai samples with Sound Factory.

can I test an EA card from an abacus in my verona and see if my EA1 card is broken?

Theoretically yes, providing it is the same version, however later OAS 7 software required both the hardware code & SG card code for activations, so it’s possible the software just won’t activate. (Never had any need to try it)
Also take into consideration that if the Verona EA board is faulty, what caused it to become faulty, if it was another part of the instrument that caused it, then the same could happen to your Abacus EA board, damaging that as well, best to contact Wersi before proceeding.
