Depending on the cabinet style, I'd guess between 150 and 200lbs. No particular precautions needed when moving this one, there are no moving parts inside. But it's a big and bulky item, so have plenty of help!
Be aware that it is 40 years old, so the chances of it being in 'mint condition' are realistically zero. Outside may be mint, but inside probably not. Components can deteriorate over time, key and switch contacts can tarnish and stop working. You ideally need to check every key, switch and button to see that everything works. If anything major is amiss, such as groups of notes or sounds not working, then walk away. Minor issues may be fixable easily enough and key contacts often work themselves back in with regular playing.
Free is the right 'price', and it will get you into the world of organ playing, so welcome to the fold!If you have any questions once you get it, ask away, you're among friends.

Approx weight of Conn 316
First of all, I am brand new to this forum and brand new to the world of organs. I have an opportunity to acquire a "mint condition" Conn Starflite Model 316. It's free, I just have to go pick it up. I'm told it is currently in an upstairs den. Does anyone have any idea how much these things Weigh? I'm guessing around 200 lbs?
Also, is there any thing else that I need to know in regards to moving an old organ? Anything in particular that I need to be particularly careful or observant about? Like iIsaid, this is my first organ and I'm more than a little excited about having it in my home. I appreciate any advice or knowledge that anyone can provide. Thanks in advance!!Tags: None
