Somebody on the vintage organ group on Facebook run by Mike Bracchi is claiming Lowrey has closed its doors. Any truth to that or is as Donald Trump says, "fake news".
No source was given to that claim so I'm thinking it's not true.
Haven't heard anything official or unofficial. I've always said that if Lowrey is making sufficient money for Kawai, they'll keep it going. If and when that changes, they'll stop. We'll have to wait and see.
It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.
However, “those Blinky too automatic organs” do have a very nice rich sound when an accomplished organist is at the console, playing good music using all pedals and full handchording, with no auto features on. Lowrey can be played conventionally as any organ, and sound better for it. I don’t think any used organ is desirable much these days, reading the postings on organ forums and the pricing of them on e-Bay.
The main production facilities in the US closed down ages ago (Main production was moved to Asia) leaving just R & D and Admin, so it may be this that is closing, with R & D moving to Kawai Headquarters, with the Lowrey Brand continuing from there. (Although President Trump is not going to look kindly on Kawai if they do)
This would be the time for Wersi and Böhm to add an „easy UI“ User Interface on top that makes usage more simple (by reducing flexibility, parametrization, customization) to get maybe a few former Lowery buyers... And probably a real wood finish would be needed ;-)
Playing Hammond Aurora Classic & XE2, Hohner E3, Roland G800 & AT500.

To be fair, Wersi have done the "easy UI" with OAX. Decent cabinets appear to be a forlorn hope, however. Reverse that for Böhm.
This has been pretty much confirmed by another member of the Vintage Organ group has has just spoken to an East Coast dealer who said Lowrey will cease operation at the start of 2019.
So that's another one for the 'Dead Pool'. Who's next?
And thinking about it, Allens Music's move to take on Wersi in the UK doesn't look so strange now, does it?
Update:Now, another source (who from his profile appears to be another Lowrey dealer) says 'Hold your horses on this!'
I am not surprised that Lowrey is shutting down. They were way overpriced. You can't hardly give used ones away. The only one I had experience with was rather complicated to use and had service issues.
