  • However the letter escaped its a shame some important people were not told first instead of finding out second hand. A great shame they are gone or nearly gone as we can at present still buy a new un.

    • Hi there - have tried to reach Dennis Awe to thank him for sending me a cd that I purchased at the Peterborough show - he had sold out. But...........have tried his email address of [email protected] a number of times but it just bounces back saying Host or domain name not found. Name service error for
      name=gmail.comj type=A: Host not found
      - anyone know a different address for him or is he first to go?
      Thanks

          If you wanted the C500 measurements, I doubt if anyone at Lowrey USA would have them after all this time! 40 years ago since the C500 Celebration was current, of course.
          It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

          • it's so maddening I can't find it anywhere.. Allen has specs from the 50s . I found a brochure on the C300 which is one model below the C500 wondering if they are the same basic dimensions I spent all day waiting for responses looked all over the web I am exhausted

              I’ve just re-read this post and would edit it if I were still in time, but I’m not. I think I need to make it clear that I was not getting at anybody on this forum but if anyone at Kawai/Lowrey thought they could keep the impending closure secret they couldn’t be too bright. However on the face of it they didn’t request secrecy so I don’t understand why we are claiming the letter was meant to be a secret.

              I’ve no reason to believe they did but sorry if anyone might have misunderstood my original post.

              • And as a follow up to that, I don't think the words 'worst kept secret' in my post don't actually imply that it was a secret at all, at least not in 'English English'.

                • Dennis is super reliable and if he doesnt make Music Exstravaganza next year I'll be devastated. The upside to Lowrey is the instruments do have a good following but as with a great deal of things now top end items are typically made to order so we no longer see stock piled spares with most things. Probably why landfill is running out =-O

                  When my local Dawsons stopped flogging used organs I watched them a few years ago now dump several outside the shop then I asked them if they were moving? No matey said we are taking all these to the tip Organs are finished...and that was then!

                  • Will be very interesting to see the format of next years Extravaganza and whether things remain 'as is' or if another organ/keyboard is made focal point for the entertainment. Out of interest I wanted to contact Dennis to thank him for sending my cd over from the States however think i have sent 3 emails to different addresses so far and all have bounced back - messaged him via Facebook yesterday - no acknowledgement yet but then it's early days for that especially if he is doing a tour. Fingers crossed all turns out well - I guess the next few months will be quite a concern for him - other employees and those connected to the industry.

                    • I see Ms Hirschfeld has been removed from that page now so looks like the announcement on stage last year she would be playing for Lowrey didn't happen after all. She made that instrument sing for sure tho and quite fascinating watching a lass play the pedals in high heels, must try that myself sometime.:o

                            • I think that Lowrey will be saved. I am hearing noise that someone is in the process of buying them from Kawai.. I think it will be Viscount if I were a betting man. I think Dennis Awe knows something and I think that will be his "announcement" that Lowrey will be saved. I think they will change I think the Aria Pro is indicative of the direction of where they are headed. less colorful buttons and tabs and less buttons and more Keyboard style interface more like the Roland or the Tenhnics. my opinion anyway but I think that Lowrey will go on..
