  • The romantic in me would love to see someone else have a go, but we come back to the same question: if Kawai couldn't make it work, who can?

    • And that my friend is the $64000 question! All eyes and ears will be glued to the forums and Dennis Awe's website during January! Wonder if there could be a management /retailer buyout with arrangements for them to use Kawai facilities when required? Only January will tell. Regards

      • My first two organs EONS ago when I was very young were a Lowrey Starlet and then a Holiday Deluxe. They were fine enough organs to keep me interested until I studied organ seriously. I realize it's a radically different world now, of course, but I do hope the Lowrey name can carry on!

        • Maybe a company that loves the organ and has more of a romantic outlook on it. someone that is less focused on the bottom line. Depends on how much Kawai wants for Lowrey. I don't know. I think maybe if marketed in a different way maybe it will take off. I feel something good is coming and I am hoping. Maybe they will aso make more professional organs as well. Who knows. But I am sure we will find out soon after the new year

I think you answered your own question. Maybe some company will pick up Lowrey, but it won't be for romantic reasons.

            • Maybe some IP holder will buy the name and produce cheap consumer items with the Lowrey name. We could have Chinese almost-working cellphones named the Lowrey Heritage. And then with the profits, they can recreate the Casio PT-1 and call it the Aria Pro Reboot.

Then all you "romantics" can experience what the rest of us have with zombie brands.

              • I can see you are in the Christmas spirit Someone cut you off in Walmart? I am not romantic Just being positive and I heard they will be saved and hope they do I have no dog in this hunt and it would be great for lowering prices for the lowrey if do go out but for my friend who is a dealer I hate for him. I can be selfish and want them gone for great deals but it would hurt so many people So I hope they get bought by an organ company would love it if Allen would buy them.. They have the equipment to build cabinets circuit boards and chassis Now Allen buying them would be a fantasy

                • I only go to Walmart when the best alternative is Amazon.

I own many old things that have become zombie brands, and don't wish this on Lowrey. Let it end on a high note. Or would you be happy that someone thinks your nicest Lowrey is just like that Lowrey branded toy they will sell at Walmart in a few years? We already have enough of this: most people think that my 1955 Lowrey is a silly toy because every Lowrey they've seen has a "fake it" button.

Would you like it if some young punk made the big time as a gangsta rapper, and he had the same name as you; and everybody associates you with his character?

Allen will not produce Lowreys. The days of in-house competition are over. Oldsmobile and Pontiac only took sales away from Chevy, and cost more to produce.

                  • And with that, and in view of the facts that 1) this thread is in danger of going round in circles and 2) it's all guesses and speculation, I think we'll bring it to a close and I'll lock the thread for now.

When we get some more news, one way or the other, I'll unlock it or we can start a new thread on the subject.
It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.
