  • How long will Wersi be in business?

With low annual home organ sales, in the Unites States and the world, how long will Wersi continue selling organs? Will they just sell keyboards? If they continue to sell home organs, how long will Wersi stay in business?

How long has Wersi ever stayed in business? That brand's had more busts than a Russ Meyer movie.

It's a low volume manufacture so low sales are already factored in, plus they continue to plod along no matter what, (And have outlasted the big boys in Europe/US) so the odds are they will continue to go on for ages providing they get there software development back on track. (Their latest software V2.00 is a complete disaster, and if reports are correct (And I emphasize the IF) you cannot go back to an earlier version, hence a number of Wersi owners have gone over to the Bohm Sempra, which currently blows Wersi OAX V2,00 out of the water)

Where is the operating system stored in the organ, on the hard drive, or an EEPROM chip (memory)? A recall by Wersi should correct the problem by reinstalling the old operating system. Wersi certainly has the expertise to do this.

Stored on the hard drive. As long as you still have a copy of the previous version, it is easy to re install it. Personally I have no problems with the latest version 2.0 I have reverted to the previous version just to compare, but in the end decided to stay with 2.0

I am running the latest v2.0 too, and not having any problems whatsoever. What problems are you having with v2.0 Bill to deem it a complete disaster, as it is not what I am seeing. Did you do a clean install or an upgrade? I did an upgrade, rather than a clean install, and no issues to report.

Bill, which model do you own? I'm just wondering if your problems are related to a specific model? Mines a 600 and apart from a couple of dodgy styles which freeze the organ, no real problems for me. The volumes were quite low after the upgrade, but a little tweaking of the mixer settings restored everything to normal

I think the Bohm Sempra is fantastic especially with the Real Organ module which brings back the sounds of the old Bohm, Wersi and Hammond drawbar sounds. I've not played OAX 2 but I've heard it live and like Bill I wasn't that impressed with the instrumental sounds. It also crashed a lot at demos. It seems all they needed to do was add RAM to fix it. I mean, I ask you, these organs are many thousands if pounds, RAM is as cheap as chips and they didn't put it in. Tbh I think thats pathetic. If I was in the market for a new organ I would buy the Bohm Sempra or import a Yamaha Stagea. No chance if that crashing. Solid as a rock.

Hahahahahaha!! I damn near out of my chair reading that. Good one, Admin. 😅
Over the years: Hammond M3, BC, M102, B3, four X77s and three PR-40s, a Thomas Electra and a Celebrity, three Fender Rhodes, Roland HS-10, HP-2000, HP-600, RD-600, JV-880, a thing made by Korg (?), two Leslie 910s, 122, 257, 258, 247, two 142s, and three custom-built Leslies. Wow, way too much money spent!

To be fair it was only existing instruments (Which were working OK until the V2.00 update) that had a problem, as they only had 8GB of Ram, whereas later models had 16GB as standard.

Mine is just over 2 years old, has 8Gb and no issues. I had more issues with prior versions locking up, and have seen stability improvements with each new release, so for me, v2.00 has been positive. What issues are you seeing Bill for it to be a complete disaster, and what are Wersi doing to resolve?

Im not sure you are completly correct about the Ram issue Bill. I saw Robert Batha attempt to demonstrate on two occasions at the Oktoberfest 2018 and it crashed both times. They were running V2 so you would have thought the RAM issue would have been realised, tested and sorted before Oktoberfest but it wasn't so what does that tell us about Wersi?

Herbert, my experience with the way pro's setup their instruments is that they tend to load their own, additional non factory samples and styles, and if these have not been factory tested, then the results could be unpredicable. Mine however, has nothing loaded in addition to factory, with the only changes being my own presets and a couple of modified sounds/styles. I have been running V2 since launch, and had absolutely no lockup's whatsoever. I had a couple of issues with prior versions, namely with 2 factory styles causing a lock up, which I think was down to the size and number of samples used for the auto accompaniment, however editing these styles to remove the sounds or change them resolved that. Bill may be right in that additional memory may have resolved that particular situation, but for me far easier to change or remove the sounds, as to be honest, those two styles were too busy anyway.

I didn't realise Robert Bartha was at the Oktoberfest as I didn't see his name mentioned in any of flyers or videos of the event.
