  • Yamaha Electone C55 amplifier and Auxilary connections

    Hi all,

I have recovered the amplifier and the speaker set complete with crossover from an organ which was beyond restoration but was worth pillaging for parts and the rotary speaker set. I am curious as to what the "Exp. In" connection was for. No explanation in the owners handbook but does list it. Does anyone know what this is for?

    Thanks in anticipation, hopefully!

Probably means Expression In which would go to the Expression pedal.

Pretty sure that's correct, in which case that will most likely be an instrument level mono input, designed for something like a synth.
It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

Thanks for the replies. Generally, how does "Exp.In" differ from "Aux. in"?

Aux In goes through the pre-amp and amp chain without going through the organ's expression pedal. Great if you're inputting a backing track that already has dynamics in it. Exp In routes the audio through the expression pedal, what you need when you're playing the organ along with a synth or other device, and you need to control the dynamics of both at the same time.

Thanks Andyg. That clears it up for me.
