My friendly organ shop rang me and offered me one of these, are they a good buy or little better than my newer Orla Ringway which I have at present.

    The Roland has drawbars.

The 80SL has virtual on screen drawbars, rather than physical ones. The AT800 has real ones.

Sound quality is higher than the Ringway, even though it's an older model. The Ringway is more flexible and tweakable if you're into that sort of thing. If you just want to sit down and play, the Roland wins hands down IMHO.
It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

Ditto Andy, I have one, the Americana version, and love it. So fun for orchestral stuff, movie scores, the French and Italian set ups (Yes even the UK ones) are so fun to play and adjust. Theatre sounds pop nicely (much better than Lowrey) The styles are OK, those screen drawbars let you hold them and toggle upper/lower. I have played the 1000 console Ringway and just no contest. And the sound system really is well blended, nice bass, highs pop, just put a pair of powered speakers behind the bench around 10 feet for the RSS effects and it will satisfy. Classical has just enough to meet your needs, and the lower octave manual percussion really let's you spruce up arrangements.

Having fairly recently moved(some would argue downgraded) from AT900c to Ringway RS1000e I would dispute the disparity in sound quality between the two instruments. I have small extension speakers connected (as I had with the Roland ),this improves the sound quality of both.
There's certainly a few things I dislike about the Ringway;sound quality isn't one of them.
