  • How did this happen?

Some months ago I replaced my Gulbransen President with a pristine Electone E50.

The President went into a storage building and was posted on CL for Free. I got a few bites but no one wanted to come out in the sticks where I live. The only thing I could do was wait for County Clean Up so I could do something with the organ.

Then one day a gentleman contacted me from Oklahoma stating he was interested. I went out to get the organ ready to go which involved moving all the boxes that had piled up on top of it. I flipped in on and it still worked. It was also quiet. Previously it had been making a sound in the background like numerous notes sounding very faintly. The noise was gone. I couldn't believe it. That noise was why I bought the Electone. What would be the technical explanation for the noise to stop? It still needs the contacts cleaned and a few keys unstuck.

Anyway it went to a good home to someone who wanted it. We also had a very nice visit and I got to talk with another organist. That hardly happens anymore.

Even Presidents need to get a good rest now and then, especially those who make additional, often unwanted noises in the background..... I just could not resist that one!

Sorry I cannot provide the answer you need but I am glad that the old Gully went to a good home. I like them for their nice sound.

It could have had an intermittent connection causing the problem. Moving it to storage could have jiggled something enough to restore the connection. There are some plugs that carry grounds and power on the power supply that would be suspect.
