  • Conn 552 Type 1 has power but no sound

Just installed a rebuilt power supply. The last time the organ played the original power supply had issues, only one channel and that one indicated bad filter caps. While playing there was a pop, and then no power. So installed the new power supply, the organ and leslie powers up but nothing else works. I've searched and searched for fuses, The replacement power supply does not have the soldered in fuse. The new power supply does not have the fourth plug for the external music cabinet that the original power supply had, although the fellow who sold me the power supply said it would work. I don't have an external music cabinet so it is no great loss. Might there be a wiring difference for the other three plugs? The original power supply had a last digit of 8 (7450 8), the new has a last digit of 6. (71450 6) Of the three plugs the rearmost has mostly gray wires and there is voltage ( 120V and 50V)across some of the pairs of plugs, the middle plug also has several pairs of wires with 120V or 50V power. When the other plug with orange wires is removed, there is no power to the organ at all. I found a small capacitor that was disconnected on the circuit board on the left side on wire #1, I re-crimped the capacitor to the clip, but still no sound. I live in the Adirondacks and there are no technicians with 75 miles, and when I increased that range to 150, there was one who's website says they travel but not as far as my location. Is there some other single point of failure I should investigate? The rhythm and other instrument panel on the left has never worked since I bought the organ. I have also searched for service manuals and schematics but they seem to be unobtainium, hence my request for assistance.

Are you sure that is the correct power supply? And are you sure that the seller actually did rebuild it properly? A disconnected cap is not usually a sign of good work.

There's a Conn Organ Facebook group and I know there are 552 owners on that. might be worth a shot.
It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

The disconnected cap wasn't within the power supply. It was underneath the keyboard on the small circuit board left side of the cabinet. Cant say as to whether the seller rebuilt properly, but he does guarantee his work. So I am wondering whether there could be a wiring difference between these two power supplies that feed the plugs on top of the power supply.
