• Continous tone on old valve (tube) Lowrey

Hi y'all, not sure who can help me out there, but I'm having a recurrent problem on all three (yes, all three!) Lowrey Heritage DSO's that I own.

On the upper manual, notes, from 8' upwards (but not quints) start sounding without the keys being pressed, but only when the stop tab is engaged. Sometimes it goes away, but generally, it's there and won't go away. The neons aren't lit, the tones still drones on, usually on one, random note. This month, it'sa D on one, a C# on another, and an Ab on the third. It's most annoying. Any help most appreciated.

    regards

Hi I've just acquired a heritage DSO-1... Do you know if they are bad for blowing the 7591A Valves? I just turned it on for the first time and one blew bright purple then there was some smoke !! ?

Not sure what a "valve" is, but assuming it's a British term for "tube," I can tell you that I replaced one or two when I purchased my Lowrey Heritage DSO-1 in the late 1970s. I was able to find the tubes at Radio Shack here in the USA. I've never had any ciphers, though (notes continuously sounding). I'd suspect something is getting stuck in the key action.

In another post, you mentioned something about a bit of rust. I have had the cover to the stops off mine, and there are 2 or 3 "springs" that, when you turn the stop on, they move laterally to make the electrical connection. These tend to get tarnished over time or with lack of use. The organ repair person I spoke to (back in the 1970s) told me to just repeatedly turn the stop on and off to clean off the contacts.

Perhaps others here on this Forum will have better suggestions? I'm all eyes![:D]
