Do a search on the US ebay site for Conn and you will find quite a few up for sale. As usual, you have a mix of reasonable and dreamable pricings! There is a 'Trinidad' up there that looks attractive, but at $1500 reserve, I suspect it will get listed quite a few times.

Unfortunately, none of them are close enough to me. :(

If that were in the UK for the equivalent of A$150, I'd be warming up the van, ready to get it!

G O N E ! One bid -$AU150.00. I should have gone for it. Bummer. Had it not sold I would have offered up to $AU100.00. Depending on the state it is in I would have used it for sparesor restored it. I am still looking for some cosmetic bits for my 643.

I am trying to find a stop list for the 580. Apart from the obvious (pedals and keyboards) how does it differ from the 643? What can you do with the extra ivories?

Never mind, tomorrow I pick up my Lowrey H25. Some consolation.

You probabaly are much better off with the Lowrey anyhow. The upper most keyboard I think had Tibias at 3 pitches, and the rest is solo reeds such as I had on the 650 Conn. I was so glad to get rid of it. We all have our likes and dislikes.

Now, now, Ian. Anyone would think that you didn't like them. Fancy comparing them to agricultural machinery.

Mind you, reminds me of of line I used to use back in the late 70's, when not that many people had heard of Kawai compared to Yamaha. I mentioned the fact that we were the big Japanese company that didn't make motorbikes. Then, as a toungue in cheek aside and half 'off mike' I said that at least our organs didn't sound like them either! Always got a laugh, even from the Yamaha boys.

It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

Either between owners or to and from repair facilities. [8-|]<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

They do have their advantages. Try cutting chaff with a Lowrey. I use the 643 to milk the cows and churn the butterwith theLeslie. Works a treat. And the piano trolley helps wheeling itfrom stable to stable. [;)]

Seriously, what I meant to say with "agricultural" was to highlight the use of some very generic looking (ex Jaycar, Dick Smith) switches and controls. But hey, they work! When I investigated why the Tibia tabs felt a bit stiff I saw that they are connected to a mechanical control cable leading into the belly of the organ to the electrical switches. I find this a bit strange. I am sure there is a valid reason for this. Perhaps someone can tell us. [I]

G'day Lads,

Funny about that one Andy, in my Lowrey days there was a Yamaha dealer close by and weused a similar line - "Madam, are you purchasing a musical instrument or a motor bike?"[^o)] It came back to bite me though after joining Yamaha, when I realised the Lowrey blokes were telling their customers "did you know Madam, that Yamaha's top sales guy plays a Lowrey at home" (which was true for a while). Ah, well, what goes around comes around.

Now Skip, given that you've consigned the Conn to the cowshed where it belongs, I'm like Andy and am looking forward to your progress with the HR25. Bet it will be on top of that "list" when you've finished.[Y]

Have you been paying attention to the Conn 640/642 that's been for sale for almost a year? Sometimes they want 900, sometimes 750. It's actually right down the street from me. I'm due to move (Fiinally!)by the end of July. If the seller gives up, I'll try and get it.
They should make up their minds. A 640 is early 60's, and the 642 from the late 60's. Two different organs, and I don't think either is worth that much!
