They generate a warm analog presence I have not heard before.

I don’t think there is anything very scientific about this. It is just the close proximity of the speakers being located on top of the organ and pumping the sound through the pipes towards the player.

It's a bog-standard Playmate series organ from 1977 onwards- but Japanese? Hmmm, who would have built that? Not Kawai, not Yamaha and not Roland, so who?

And it was the Compucon Alpha 2 series that would have definitely saved them - we saw the prototypes and they were stunning, and low-cost. Did they appear anywhere else other than NAMM and the London trade fair?

It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

                G'day guys,

I agree - Japanese no. My memory thinks that most of those horrible little nonUS analog Thomases were Italian - the pedal board, if nothing else is the giveaway.

Try this one Andy, I mate of mine here has a digital Thomas Troubadour spinet - dashboard not unlike a Yammy EL or Kawai SR, disk drive, midi, orchestral presets etc. Cabinet looks European, sounds OK- one of these Compucon things maybe? Was definitely purchased new here in Oz.

                    Hi All,

Looking at that site Skippy, my mate's Thomas is exactly the "brown box" version of Troubadour shown there. Methinks they are built by Hohner who have in the past built rebadged instruments for several brands, and I do remember a "launch" in Queensland at the Aust. Music Assocation Trade Fair in the mid 90's. I was there with Yamaha and have since thought that nothing had become of the Thomas thing as the home organ market was all but deceased - guess I was wrong. As fora Malaysian plant, are we ready for a Malaysian organ, and if it is Hohner, is the world (and Larry Adler) ready for an Asian Blues Harp?[*-)] Then again, buy some Yamaha Hi Fi today and it very well may be made in the Malaysian plant.

                    Cheers,

                      Re: RIDDLE

It does annoy me when someone just buys a name and plonks it on something that bears no relation to the original. And Thomas even use the original company's history to show 'their' musical pedigree. Jeez! Old Wersi technology and sound, and I think I'd much rather have Skippy's 871 Celebrity, thank you very much.

Oh, I do wish I hadcomposed "It was a very good year". That would have kept me in groceries for life! [:D] Alas, I only arranged this version.

It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.
