  • Ringway RS1000e problem.

I understand there are very few owners of the above on this forum, but I'm wondering whether any kind soul can offer advice on I problem with this organ.
The display screen will turn black with a tiny curser flashing in the top lh corner occasionally when I'm editing a set up only when the lead voice 2 (one of the mono sections for upper or lower)is having its parameters adjusted.
As you can understand, this can be infuriating if you've spent a lot of time programming because the only way I've found to bring the screen back to life is by switching off a d back on, which obviously means all the work is lost.
This is a tremendous instrument which I rate extremely highly, but this anomaly is beginning to grate....

That's really strange. Does it happen always when you adjust the lead voice 2 settings? it never happed to my organ.

If there is a way to compare firmware versions, it would be interesting to compare both of your firmware versions to see if there is a difference. Might be a bug in the operating system.

I've been contacted off line by someone who's had the same problem. Here's the relevant part of their email:

I had the same problem and Paul Carmen (then music traders) obtained a fix from Ringway. He sent me a USB with 2 files which I installed following Paul's written instructions and had no further problem. When I traded the instrument with Allen's Gt Yarmouth, I passed the USB and instructions to them for further use.

I would suggest ATpilot contact Paul C or Allen's as the current importer or even Ringway in China
            .

I hope that the person who sent the email will be on here soon, and may be able to help further.

Afraid not, Paul is no longer in the music business per se, but does appear as a concert artist at various festivals etc. I think Allens would be the best people to contact. Trevor Flunder or Tom Horton.

Phoned Allen's and had pleasant and informative chat with ,I think, Trevor who's agreed to send me a USB stick and instructions to update the OS.Pleased to get a positive result on this; apparently several of these models affected similarly.

                    That's very good news!
Are these .drv files? For kernel and ROM update?

                  John,
To check your software version, hold the Shift button and hold Lead Voice 2,min volume and Pedal Voice 2,max volume all together which will bring up the test screen.

                    I love such hidden menus!
But unfortunately it didn't work for me. I pressed them without any response

                  Sorry John, that's an error!
                  I'll copy from the sheet that accompanied the stick;
Press and hold the SHIFT button(left hand),keep holding the shift button whilst pressing and holding the volume up in the LEAD VOICE 2 section as well as the volume down in the PEDAL VOICE 2 section.
                  That should work!
                  David.
