Won't they just love it with a Jap CEO! As you and I know from experience it will shove their magic genies right back into their bottles!!!

Now then, Ian, that's wicked! [6]

To be fair, there was a lot of confusion all round when the big corporates realised the way things were going and pulled out, and all sorts of mis-information was rife even then.

If Mel has gone, that's a shame, as he was a larger than life character in more than one sense of the word. The industry had lots of them at one point and they made the business more fun than it otherwise would have been.

I'll pass the link on to the Lowrey group and see what they know.

    G'day Andy,

I see you've opened a can of worms over at the Lowrey mob. I can't believe all the mis-information they're spouting re. CBS etc. Gibson guitars were not sold off by Norlin until 2 years after it ditched Lowrey, and then it was to a private investor, who has since had nothing to do with the keyboard business. Maybe they all should check in here and learn the real facts.

Anyway, we know what the music biz is like for rumours. If you haven't heard a good one by mid-day, you feel obliged to start one!

    Too true, Andy,

If we at Yamaha needed something to "leak" [:#]all I had to do was phone up one dealer in Melbourne's southern suburbs and within 48 hours the whole country would know and a day later I'd get a call from New Zealand wanting to know what was going down.

Well, they'd presumably only go under if Kawai decided so. I can't imagine that Lowrey would be able to survive without Kawai, or that anyone else would step in. It all depends on how the company is performing financially. If it's loss-making with no prospects of coming back into profit, then the rumour is credible. If Lowrey are making money (ie not costing Kawai any money) then I don't see a problem.

    Ian,

Thanks for your post regarding the Lowrey Organ Co. So, apparently they are about to "bite the dust" like all of the others. It seems the last time I went to their website there were not as many models to chose from in new organs such as there once wasawhile back. I find it amazing at how many of us on here search for the older analog organs which were built well as well as had decent sounds, features, etc. It seems we find those to be worth fixing, playing, and having for sentimental reasons as much as anything else. I am so glad to have found my Wurlitzer 4100A recently, and I am most eager to have it playing again.
