  • Conn 315 "Farting" Noise

I just got my grandmother's Conn 315. It was the first instrument I played. When I got it home it hadn't been played in a long time. When I powered it up all I get is a "farting" noise when I press the keys. Sorry... there's no other way to describe it. You press the key, and when you let up you get a Pfft.. sound. The foot pedals work great! The drummer works... just nothing on the keyboard. I tried checking connections and using contact cleaner.

Anyone have a schematic? Any places I should start looking?

If it was a Wurlitzer I'd say it was the Sha Boom effect. I know on my Thomas Celebrity there was a 16' Bassoon that pretty much sounded like a fart but on a Conn I'm not sure. Maybe the cymbal or brush noise getting keyed somehow?
Over the years: Hammond M3, BC, M102, B3, four X77s and three PR-40s, a Thomas Electra and a Celebrity, three Fender Rhodes, Roland HS-10, HP-2000, HP-600, RD-600, JV-880, a thing made by Korg (?), two Leslie 910s, 122, 257, 258, 247, two 142s, and three custom-built Leslies. Wow, way too much money spent!
