  • New Thomas Home Organ?

Ad seen in the latest issue of Okey! Probably Claus could elaborate on it?
    Interesting no less.

Interesting. I heard where they started back up but never could find any info on it.

A full console organ for six grand? That's more like it. Old Wersi tech, presumably?

I've been poking round that Thomas website. It still cheerfully announces "We re-introduce one of the most populair [sic] models this year. The CALIFORNIAN will be reveiled [sic] in September this 2004" which doesn't inspire confidence.

Probably Claus Riepe could shine some light on it since the ad appears in “his” magazine?

Def. looks like classic Wersi. I doubt though it would employ old pre-OAS Wersi tech. Well, perhaps old Pegasus tech, who knows. If it really exists, but then why run an ad if you couldn't show anything for?

A bit of translation was required!

This is talking about used organs, from €100 upwards. And it mentions the Thomas Paramount shown in the photo, so I assume that €6990 was the 'Neupreis', or original new selling price.

And of course a real Thomas Paramount looks rather different! :)
It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

The new and used organs from €100 info I believe to be an addendum. The organ shown is “new”, “made in Germany”, and the “cheapest full pedal console” organ.

Here is the full ad. The three manual one is obviously “just” a Böhm, but Orgel Reiser wouldn't announce a new Thomas for 6990 if it wasn't available, would they?

Those Walko organs are intriguing at the price (a couple of grand sterling):

Live demo here, sounds no worse than any current Wersi to my ears for a fraction of the price:

Here is the link to the Orgel Reiser shop. On the Paramount page it says „Fertigung nach Bestelleingang“, which translates to „will be build after your order“. So it is new, not used. This model exists for at least more than 5 years.

As auronoxe said, that organ has been available for the last 5 or 6 years and they have gradually reduced the price. I think it was first listed at €10,990.

The Facebook page has info dating back to 2012 for that model. Maybe they have updated it, but it looks the same as the picture from 8 years ago.
There is a posting April 2013 by the company director Udo Spindeler. Udo Spindeler was involved with Wersi R & D many years ago.

And who is going to buy an 8 year old model for €7K, that won't even be built until they order it? Shades of 'DIAP and BIAS' Technology here. :D

Oh - Designed in a Pub, Built in a Shed!

Now, that's interesting. Was he going for the Wersi CD sound in this model? Well, no physical drawbars, but the buttons and display scream "CD".

Thomas (Not to be confused with the American Thomas) bought the rights to the Wersi technology in the late 90s, and initially just rebadged the Wersi of the 90s (Pegasus, Phoenix, Phon-X etc.) before designing their own models in a similar vain.
