  • How to change volume of D-Beam Percussion on Roland AT organ

    Hi there,

I‘m looking for a way to change the volume of the percussion voices of the D-Beam controller on my AT500 organ. I feel it is not loud enough in many cases. But I could not figure out how to change it. At least it does not respond to the „Rhythm“ volume control. Any ideas? Is it changeable at all?

Hm, if not... I need to reduce all other voices‘ volumes in such cases.

    Thanks, Harald
    Playing Hammond Aurora Classic & XE2, Hohner E3, Roland G800 & AT500.

Hmm, that's odd, as mine do respond to the Rhythm volume control. I was setting up some sounds for a new arrangement and needed a good, loud bass drum and crash cymbal at the very end, so the control was turned a long way up.
It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

      Thanks, Andy. This is strange.

Meanwhile I could figure out what is going on with the AT500 - maybe a SW fault, maybe intended like that: When I switch on the „Manual percussion“ I can change the volume of the drums with the „rhythm volume“ button. This also changes the volume of the D-Beam percussion in an identical way. When I switch off the „Manual percussion“ the D-Beam keeps that volume, even if I change the rhythm volume.
I don‘t know if this is also stored in the registration... but at least I know how I can get the D-Beam volume to full volume again :-)

That does sound like a software or firmware bug, as I can't imagine that it was the intention. Alas, I don't think Roland were in the mood to come up with firmware updates as the end drew nearer. :(
