• Kimball Swinger 800 Organ Keeps Blowing Fuse

I have a Kimball Swinger 800. It was given to me.

When I went to use it he first time it would not work. I found a fuse that had been blown, and so went and replaced the fuse.

When I went to turn it on again it blew the fuse again. Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be causing this?

    Thanks!

Constantly blowing fuses would immediately make me suspect the main power supply, with possibly amajor fault. It's probably fixable but you'd either need a set of schematics and the knowledge and ability to trace the fault and do the repair work, or call in a tech to do it.

However, as far as I can tell, all the 800 series Swingers date from the late 1960s and early 1970s. They have a monetary value of zero (sentimental value is a different matter) and the cost of even obtaining the schematics will be more than the organ is worth.

It's up to you, but as those Swingers were not particularly great organs and often not that reliable, it probably isn't worth spending much on it. If you'd like to play the organ (and we need as many new organists as we can get) then you'll find that you can pick up something very decent, and fully working, for almost nothing or for free.

Last though as always has to be that if you open up the organ, be careful, there are lethal voltages in the power supply, and it's probably even more dangerous with a fault.

It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.
