  • Eko model identification?

    Hi,

Sorry to bother ye all with yet another post,

I picked up this old Eko single manual organ (see image attached) earlier today. .

The main reason that I took it is because I am on the lookout for a keyboard manual for a friend of mine. He is currently studying music technology & wants to build a keyboard into a homemade portable case & wire it to a MIDI-interface card.

The organ I believe belonged to a church nearby (I think I remember seeing it there in the choir gallery way back) & was replaced by a single-manual Viscount of some description in 2011 or thereabouts.

The speaker has been removed along with the mains transformer. I have no interest in procuring the parts needed to get it going again as it is a dual-manual organ that I want for myself. Besides, I'll be collecting 30 quid for the keys so it really is worth more dead than alive.

I am unable to find a serial number plate as the back panel has long since gone missing. I would be interested to find out what particular model this is, as I am due to look at a Tiger Duo combo organ (also from Eko) later this month & was wondering if any interchangeable parts might be worth keeping?

Now, one thing that is intriguing me is the fact that it has two expression pedals. What on earth could the second one be for? I know it doesn't really matter at this stage but my curiosity has me racking my brain trying to figure it out.

I am dismantling the organ this evening. After I remove the keys I'll be breaking up the cabinet for firewood (way ahead of you seamaster if you're reading this) & throwing the rest into the recycling bin (being collected on Friday morning). Is there anything else that might be worth salvaging.

Lastly, I hope that nobody on here minds the fact that I'm scrapping this for parts rather than trying to get it going...

I can't find any info on this one John. Early to mid 1970s, I'd say. Not sure about the second pedal, looks more like a guitar FX pedal that's been added.

If there's an oscillator board in there with 12 coils etc, there's a chance that it might provide some spares for the Tiger Duo, but I think that may be later technology. With so much already missing from an organ that's old and that probably wouldn't be 100% even with all its parts, then parting it out makes sense.
It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

Thanks, I couldn't find anything with inductors on it that resembled a TG card. The other PCBs just had discreet components which can be had for a couple of pence & thus not worth the effort of de-soldering, so I just kept the timber & binned the rest.

Just sold on the keys this afternoon & collected my 30 bob as promised, so I ain't complaining... 😀

      Thanks again Andy!

You are never a bother to post things here, that is why the Forum exists. Sometimes the best end to an organ ( and other items as well ) is to make it into parts that can be re-used or re-purposed. Then you are Recycling, not just Scrapping. Then too, some organs just need to be scrapped. Now and then someone may get bent about the idea of parting out an organ, but most of us understand that it needs to happen at times.
        Regards, Larry
