  • V3 TTT and Hauptwerk

    Hi All

Am finally getting somewhere with the V3 TTT and my hauptwerk set up on my Bohm 500(non sempra).

Only need to get one thing sorted now. How do I get the volume/swell pedal to work so that the hauptwerk program recognises it automatically when setting up the instruments,. Is there a setting in the midi settings that I have to change to get the midi output to work from the pedal, similar to activating the keyboards etc by turning on the midi sound. If so how do I do this please?

    Thanks all, keep safe

    Mark

It is all about ensuring that the Bohm channel; used for outputting expression data is the same as the input required by the receiver of the information. Consult the manuals. Certainly the Bohm channel can be changed.

There is an auto detection procedure for the organ's expression pedal with Hauptwerk. All the info is in the manual, which is also available online if you don't have a copy.

Does anybody know how I confirm/change the channel on the Bohm please so that the midi signal is activated from the swell pedal

          Hello!

here are a few informations about MIDI for the swell pedal on SEMPRA and also on the previous models, like Mark's Sinfonia. Hope this will help :)

On the current Sempra models, the swell pedal(s) can transmit via MIDI in parallel to their actual internal swell function, and it is even possible to freely define the controller(s) to be transmitted on each channel on each MIDI interface (8x USB MIDI and 2x MIDI socket, making a total of 10 interfaces! The controller assignments have to be set in the MIDI Menu - MIDI Out settings for the available MIDI Interfaces.

On the previous model series, as here on your Sinfonia, this was a bit more limited: here the swell pedal is assigned to only one function/controller, by default the internal swell pedal function. In this case it is not transmitted via MIDI.
However, you can assign any MIDI controller to the swell pedal in the menu "Buttons/Slider assignments", which is then transmitted via MIDI.

To do this, select the desired controller in the menu for the swell 1 position (or swell 2 on organs with 2 swell pedals) and then select the destination part via which the swell pedal should to be transmitted in the right-hand column of the menu. If UPPER 1 is entered here (default value), then the output will be done via all upper parts, including the upper MIDI part. It will be transmitted on the same MIDI channel which is set for this part. So in this case the output is done via the same channel as the Upper Manual is transmitted to Hauptwerk. That's channel 1 in the default settings. However, you could also select another destination part in this menu, in which case the sill controller would be transmitted exclusively via this part. For example the MIDI part Upper or the MIDI part Lower etc....

So for the Hauptwerk swell controller you would only have to set a corresponding controller assignment for the swell pedal in the organ and save it as a button/knob preset. Then Hauptwerk will recognize the swell data transmitted from the organ and they could be assigned to the HW swell pedal via the auto-detection function.

            Hi Claus

Does this mean on my sinfonia, I press the menu button, then select foot switches and then select swell pedal? What do I then do or is this not correct.

Am I correct in thinking then, once the pedal is assigned to the upper manual, it will work for both the pedals and lower manual?

            Thanks

              Hi Mark!

yes, thats correct, you've to assign a MIDI controller to the swell pedal inside that menu and then to store this configuration as a button/slider preset, which you can use with your Globalpresets for Hauptwerk play.

It doesn't matter from where (MIDI channel) Hauptwerk gets the swell controller. You've only to use the auto detection function to connect one of the virtual swell pedals in Hauptwerk to the controller transmitted from the Sinfonia swell pedal. The function in Hauptwerk is determed by the swell function there. Some Hauptwerk organs have more than one swell pedal. So you have to decide which one you want to control by the Sinfonia swell pedal.

              regards,
              Claus
