• Asking Price for a 1988 Yamaha FS-20 Electone

I would like to sell a 1988 Yamaha FS-20 Electone Organ that was purchased newby my grandfather; I am the second owner. The original purchase list price was $7995 and it is in EXCELLENT condition. Online research has not given me any clues as to its value or asking price. I currently have it listed at half the original list price because I had no idea as to where I should start. Here is a link listing the details and photos (you do not have to be a member of Facebook to look at this link): http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=45200&l=f791b&id=668508956

Any suggestionsregarding a listing price would be appreciated.

Hate to say it, but you probable won't get more than $200.

Search ebay or Craigslist spinet organs of this vintage and you'll see.

If it had 24 pedals or more you might have done better but thats the reality these days for organs.

Spotty's right, I'm afraid to say.

You could do a couple of searches on the forum for 'whatever happened to the home organ market' or 'organ values' and find out what the current state of play is. To cut to the chase, the organ market died, worldwide sales of new organs are maybe in the very low thousands, maybe even less.

The used market crashed with it and values are at rock bottom. That means zero for many instruments and not much for the rest. Why? No demand, too many old organs looking for homes, the cost of repairs, lack of spares. I could go on.

We always tell it like it is here, there's no point in doing otherwise. Organs of this size and age are being given away. $200-300 would be great, if you can get it.

It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

Several weeks ago, I purchased the top-of-the-line FX-20 (same model family as the FS-20, but listed for $21,000 in 1983) for $300.

Unfortunately, it is difficult to give organs away now.
