Is there any remote chance of acquiring any disks for this recorder? I have one on my recent FX-1 acquisition but came with no disks. I would like to see if it works.

    Thanks,

They were hard enough to find when the drive was current! I think it's almost impossible now - we've discussed them before. There are a couple of Yamaha experts here, and they may know something.

It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

      G'day George,

Given that the MDR1 was a brand/model specific product in that it could only be used on certain models in Yamah's "F" series, ie only the FS & FX models that had on board registration memory, and those organs are now 25 years old I don't like your chances. While there were a lot of the organs sold back then the disk drive was a pretty poor sales performer because of its prohibitive price.

All I can suggest is to keep your eyes on Ebay and similar, check the Electone Zone site - www.electone.com and while doing so try to hunt up some RP1 RAM Packs.

Yeah, you're probably right. I just bought 4 RP-1's on eBay. That should hold me! [;)]
