• New member and new organ owner

My mother passed away recently, and I inherited her Gulbransen Model 401 organ. I am not an organ player, but since I'm the family's active musician (I play sax), I got the organ. I've searched online, but I can find very little information about it. Where can I find more information about it? I understand that Gulbransen is no longer in the organ business. Is it possible to get any kind of manuals for it?

    G'day Bill,

The 401 was a church/chapel spinet instrument released in 1978. It was part of the last range of LSI analog instruments made by Gulbransen, then a division of CBS Musical Instruments, also responsible for Leslie Speakers, Steinway Pianos & Fender Guitars amongst others. The digital "Equinox" series of organs that followed saw the end of Gulbransen manufacture in the US. The Gulbransen name was purchased in 1986 by Mission Bay Investments who had organs made by Elka in Italy until 1989.

Check through other Gulbransen threads on this forum and you'll find info on how to obtain manuals for this instrument.

    Cheers,

Thanks, Ian! I had searched for Gulbransen, but I did it again and saw one mention of Dave's Electronics. I found an email address for him and emailed him, so we'll see what he says.
