Re: Baldwin 46hp
I remember playing these organs in the dealer's store when they were new. They are from the mid 60's and are all tubes. I have the spinet version of this organ the model 54A. These organs have a lot of big sound, but not my cup of tea. To me they have the "bigness" of sound, and they have a overall brassy sound. The solo reeds are very nice for that time ofelectronic engineering. If you use the green string stops, then they are just a buzz. In short, they remind me of a child blowing into a kazoo. They were part of Baldwin's early group of non locking console home organs on the market at that time. In my honest opinion I think Baldwin stayed very close to the sound their original church organs had when they first came onto the market in the late 40's.

There are many other organs that I enjoy playing more than these old Baldwin's. You can notice if you play th stops individually they have a "clarinety" sound since they are formatted from a square wave tone.
