• Please Help, M3 mod question!

Ok, I have an M3, which my original intention was to buy a BOSS
rotary effects pedal,....install a 1/4" line out, and have a cheap but
somewhat same sound as the traditional that we all love and share.

Here's my videos on it. http://hammondm3.blogspot.com/

The bottom video on that page (the one posted at 10:16am), shows what I did to install a line out,...that I found on a website,

    http://www.wikihow.com/Install-a-Line-out-Jack-on-a-Hammond-M3-Electric-Organ

    HOWEVER,
is the signal that I used coming from the AMP!?!?!?!?! This is what
was directed to do on the site, and they called it the preamp. So, Am
I throwing serious wattage at my peavey, or hardly any wattage to my
    peavy?!?!?!

I've been using it this way for months, and not had any problems.
I know I need to replace some tubes though, maybe it's not sending
enough wattage to do any damage,.....geez I don't know.

    PLEASE HELP!

In short, yes... the design of that 1/4 inch is poor... You should use a spdt switch and put a dummy load power resistor across the 1/4 inch jack and have the switch either connect to the speaker or the jack with its load resistor. Use a pair of10 ohm 10 watt resistors in series as the dummy load. It is NOT good to run the power amp in the organ without a suitable load on it.

As far as wattage into your Peavey, the voltage is the important thing and fortunately for you the voltage at the speaker is not that high, but has current capability which your high impedance Peavey will not cause to flow.

The at risk things here are output tubes in the organ amp and worse, the output transformer.

Many of the things you find are designed by hacks who have no electrical engineering background. Even ready made products that you buy for this are often garbage!
