  • Treble Driver for 147

I’m looking for a treble driver for my 147. I have a 16 Ohm driver that I took out of an 860, would that work or is the V-21 the only real option? Thanks in advance!

Any 16 ohm driver will work in a 147 with a stock crossover network. How "any" 16 ohm driver will sound is a matter of opinion. Note that any driver used in a stock 147/122 that is not 16 ohms will change the crossover point.

If the 860 driver is the same one as they put in the 330 (Atlas) you will be fine. They sound fantastic!

The 860 driver might not bolt right on. It's threaded IIRC. An adapter plate might be needed that has both V21 and the 860 threaded pattern.
Most Hammond shops and vendors sell these. Quite a few 122 and 147 boxes with extra chirp.....Atlas drivers etc.

My 860 schematic indicates that the horn driver used in the 860 was an 8Ω driver. I can't vouch for what you may actually find in real life, but that's what the schematic says.

The Atlas PD-5VH is considered by some to be the closest match to a V-21, not exactly the same, but close.

We usually just install the latest HammondOrganCo offering (which requires the available adapter plate). So far, no one has complained about the extra bite. But for personal use, I might go with the recommended Atlas.

Make sure whichever driver you purchase is 16 ohm. That being said, the Atlas PD-5VH (40 watt) I have found to be the best replacement for the Jensen V21. Although, there is no replacement in sound, as far as I am concerned, for the V21 Jensen. Depends on how important the original Leslie speaker sound is to you. It is very important to me. Good Luck...……….
