  • Compatibility info on a Leslie 412

    Hi everyone,
I am looking at purchasing a Leslie 412 that’s up for sale here in Aus.
I know it’s an 11 pin Leslie, but I can’t find any schematics for it on line and the specs seems to a little vague.
I want to use the cabinet on either a Yamaha D85 or a Kawai DX900 organ.
Can someone please offer some advice on if this Leslie will work on these organs.
    Thanks
    Scott

Hi thanks for replying, yes I read through that thread, but it really doesn’t answer my question.
      Hopefully someone here can :)
      Cheers

It was designed for the Hammond Super B. Hammond didn't design it for the Yamaha D85 or a Kawai DX90. I am sure that it is possible to connect it to such an organ, but you'd almost certainly have to build the kit yourself depending on how many channels your organs put out, and depending on what channels the Leslie is looking for as input.

Sorry I couldn't be more help. These specialty one-off Leslies are obscure, and were only marketed for one model even in their hey day.

Both the yam and kawai have 11 pins connections so should just plug in if you get the cable, just plug and play.

They are a good leslie and very loud, but here in uk most suffered from some of the speakers disintegrating and having to be replaced they are now quite old.

As it's a three channel leslie, it should handle all three channels from the DX900 by simply plugging into one of the two leslie sockets.
It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

The problem speakers are the 10 inch on front and the one over the loer drum, if you touch them they just fall apart, they can be replaced with bit f work.
As stated they are 3 channel so very good on larger multichannel organs, should sound good on dx900.

                  And who knew? They did.

I never assume anything is compatible... (what with 6 pin sockets having at least 3 hookup schemes). Glad it's so simple for these.
