So I have this Leslie 125. I was playing my Hammond L-112 through it, had her up into the realms of overdrive when suddenly the volume dropped down to an almost telephone button tone sound that was barely audible at full organ volume. So I take my effects loop line out on the Hammond and I plug it into the PA, and I get normal motionless sound which eliminated the preamps in the Hammond. I changed out all the tubes in both the Hammond power amp and the Leslie 125 power amp, as well as the leslie 2amp fuse and I still get the quiet telephone tone. Anybody have any idea as to what the problem might be?

Also, in seeking a solution to this problem I bought a Leslie 125 for parts and a Leslie 770 solid state (thought it was a 147) that has seen better days but am told does actually work. I am wondering if there is a way to frankenstein it all together to create a working Leslie? Perhaps if I got a hold of a 145/7 amplifier? Or if I rigged up a control for the horn motor and a cross over? I have a mountain of Leslies and no sound! It's just not good enough. I could really use some brainstorming and input from my fellow enthusiasts.

I've also just swapped out the Leslie 125 speaker and the telephone tone prevails.

      Hello,

Look at the tubes in the dark.
They must lit but not overheat (Max plate color = Dark red).
      Another possible issues :
The input potentiometer can become dirty and the signal path being completely interrupted.
      Tubes socket, connectors.

The 770 is a fantastic Leslie and a great match for an L-100. Just wire that one up, you'll be pleasantly surprised!
        Current organs: AV, M-3, A-100
        Current Leslies: 22H, 122, 770

Have built my own '770' twice, and working on a third!
What an L100 needs is 'more' and a 770 will get it there!

Simple 9 pin setup with 'off' an easy option along with chorale and tremelo.
Look it up on the Captain Foldback Leslie pages,"Uncle Harvey's" to be exact!
On/off is just a pin making/braking 1/2 of the AC pair.Another pin doles out the slow/fast to another pair.
The others are audio, some 9 pin models have extra channels. You'll need a pair of those, not the third wire.
8 of the 9 will get you where you need to go......good luck.
I would leave the 770 as is and enjoy it!

Connectors aren't easy to find, but if you watch ebay they do come up for auction in small quantities!
I've seen complete 9 pin kits go for less than 150 on there, complete with halfmoons!

Hey there, thanks for the info I totally forgot those kits existed. My 770 has an 11 pin output, any idea which kit I would need? I checked the big list, but I'm drawing a bit of a blank. Would the modern 1147 (I think) do the job?

So I decided to try plugging the speaker into the load resistor spot, so I took out the amp and looked it over, only to find that there isn't one on mine. So I thought, "If I can bypass it one way, why not bypass it completely?" and I proceded to simply connect the speaker wire from the Hammond's internal speakers to the Leslie speaker directly, and play on the ensemble setting. Just connected the connector kit that was always there to power the motor and take the cable. Now, I'm wondering if there's anything i could do to get the Tremelo setting to work? I've got sound, I've got motion, but no speed. Motor locks up completely when i switch to tremelo.
