  • Leslie 770 connection question

Hey again folks. I am in possession of a Leslie 770 with an 11 pin connect. It's one of the ones with its own power cable. Im looking for a connector kit to connect my Hammond L 112, which has a 6 pin out and cable. Any idea which leslie kit I would need for this?

Turns out that the Leslie is a 771, biamped solid state 11 pin beast.

The 11 pin Leslies are almost as easy to hook up as the 9-pins. You really only need the jack, the speed switch, and some wiring - and an extra relay to turn the Leslie on.

11 pin pin-outs here: http://www.captain-foldback.com/Leslie_sub/pinouts.htm scroll down to the 11 pin section. As enor says, making a kit for the 771 should be easy enough.

I have the tremelo/chorale switch and the E/e/M switch connected to a kit that connects the l112 to a 125. Would it be so simple as using the kit thats there, making a 6-11 cable using the pins I need and adding a switch into the kit for pins 5/6 to power on the 771?

Or should i take out the old kit and wire what I need to an out put? I have a 6-6 cable now, what if i made the 771 a 6 instead of an 11 pin out?

The 125 hookup and the 11-pin hookup are not compatible.

Get an 11-pin cable and set it up properly.

Absolutely! Remove the existing kit and cable and sell them - they will fetch a very decent amount. Then buy or build the correct kit and 11 pin cable, and install it properly.

So what do these kits consist of? Do they just sort out the wiring or do they have other components as well? I'm fairly handy but I havent had to work with these kits yet, and they are quite expensive, so I really want to wrap my head around it to avoid breaking anything, injuring myself, or wasting my time/money. I have access to a good source for parts, and Im confident with the proper schematic or instruction I can build one. I assume I need the 1,2,3 or 4 channel organ to 11 pin leslie kit. Any info you guys can provide would go a long way!

No, you don't really need a kit.

You do need to understand the 11-pin interface, which is Step 1. If you understand it, you can assemble the parts you need.

Alright so I have the schematics and pin outs, so using the 771 pin out info I just have to disconnect the current kit, wire the out puts and switches and ground from the organ to a plug, put a socket for that on a box, wire that socket to an 11 pin socket and connect with an 11 pin cable.
