On a separate thread I am discussing the installation of a new home hybrid organ.
Several people recommend that I add speakers to the digital organ, that will be either a Viscount Sonus or Johannus Vivaldi.
The idea is not to reinforce sound - this is not a church - but to achieve better spatial expression.
My music room is large, half library and half lounge, with a grand piano, and a lot of sound-absorbing curtains and rugs, and no reverb to speak of.
It would be most impractical to do any cabling, so I am thinking of a wireless solutions. The idea is simply to connect Bluetooth or Wifi transmitters to the
auxillary outputs of the organ (usually four of them) and then locate speakers around as needed. Sonos https://www.sonos.com/en-us/home seem to have
a good reputation. There are also fancier models from other makes.
I am told a Wifi link will be much superior to Bluetooth and some achieve audiophile status.
Does anyone have any thoughts/experience ?
Thanks, Vincent
Edited after discussing with sound engineer friend: However in any wireless system and particularly Wifi, latency becomes a problem, even if reverb and echo are natural
components of the organ sound experience. Ultra fast Wireless technology is needed. In the non-professional market the best contender between hub and speakers is the Dynaudio Xeo range from Denmark, but that's very pricy. Advertised latency is 20 microsecs.
