  • Leslie 44W MTC Logic 2 Speed Controller

Hello! I am about to install the Benton Electronics 2 Speed Controller in my 44W. I am wondering if anyone has any guidance as far as where the heck to put it. There doesn't seem to be anywhere under the chassis to put the board. Unless there are some tricks of the trade as to where to squeeze it in. Do I need to extend the wires and place it somewhere outside of the chassis? If so... then where do I do that? There is no room to the right of the amp. Plus that might put it in harms way.

If anyone has some helpful hints I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks in advance!

Hi, I put one inside a Model 51. I put it on the side, in the compartment with the 15. It works great, I love it. Mine is an amp-less FrankenLeslie. I switch it with a remote guitar amp footswitch. I put relays and 12vdc power supply also in the center compartment. As per George's suggestions, clean and lube the motors first.

I have thoroughly cleaned and lubed the motors. They are nice and smooth. I have also inverted the stator in on the bottom motor. I had to buy a new crossover because the old one had the tar in it. My buddy took the Leslie apart and couldn't find the original wiring harness from the amp to the crossover. DOH! So I'm going to have to figure out something new for that. So that'll be more difficult than it should have been.

I will see where I find a good spot for the board to go. I will probably put the bottom cover on the cabinet to protect it if that is how it's going to fit best.

      Thanks for the response!

i have mounted it near the rear of the chassis. I get a bolt that will go through the top of the chassis long enough to “suspend” the board near the bottom. A hole must be drilled and it’s location is paramount. I hold the board where it will not interfere with anything and the mounting hole lines up with a spot on the chassis where you can drill. Run the bolt from the top, add a nut to secure it there. Add a second nut for the board location, than a third nut to secure it.

Another option is to mount the board externally next to the amp. Since it’s held with one screw it’s easy to still be able to remove the amp.

I’ve seen one installation where the owner put the board under the chassis mounted to the side of the chassis.

As you know the MTCLogic board is designed as a drop in replacement of the relay in the 22H and 47 amps. It can of course work in many other models but may require some creative mounting.
