I have a peavey kb 300 solid state amp that was left turned on over night ,next day turned it off let it cool down ,tried to start her up ,power comes on but amp is dead , where should I start to sort this out , thanks any direction will be helpful .

Check the speaker first. I knew someone who had a problem with a similar amp. There was a fault in the amp that blew the speaker. He managed to repair the amp himself, but forgot to check the speaker and couldn't figure out why he was getting no sound.
I don't know this particular amp, but some SS amps have fuses or protection circuits in series with the speaker that could be tripped in the event of an output stage fault.I'm David. 'Dave' is someone else's name.

These amplifier provides a 'Preamp Out' and a 'Power amp In' sockets.
The signal path between this sockets is open when a Jack is plugged in the 'Power amp In'.
The preamp is then isolated from the amplifier.
Which makes it possible to know if the problem is before or after this point.
