  • Horn Shelf Measurements

Does anyone know where I can find measurements or a dimensioned drawing of a Leslie horn shelf? I guess the main thing I'm looking for is the distance from the center of the motor shaft to the center of the horn.

    Hi Alex,

I recently made a new top shelf for a 147. In that instance, I simply used an existing (in situ) shelf to transfer an outline of the motor and horn cut-outs (via rubbing/frottage). The shelf is not yet glued into place so I will head out to the garage tomorrow and measure the dimensions for you.

Thanks Peter! Did you get the location of the idler in your outline transfer too?

        Here you go Alex,

I'm sure it is not perfect, but the odd millimetre here and there ain't going to be noticeable to anyone driving by at 30Km/hr.

Very nice, thank you! Can I correctly assume that the shaft of the motor is in the dead center of the motor opening?

You will find that to be +/- the case, take a look at the top Leslie motor supports (the Z-shaped hanger strips = corner cut-offs in the diagram) and they certainly look in line with the top pulley (at least to me that is)... :)

It is definitely dead center between the studs.
