  • Leslie 760 Volume

This may be a stupid question, but I can't seem to find the answer (and if you show me I missed it a thread here, I apologize in advance). Anyway, did the Leslie 760 originally come with a key to adjust volume? I heard something like that, but I've never seen one. What can you used if the key is missing? I've tried screwdrivers, but that doesn't always work well.

I always use a small screwdriver. Some of the 760s I have owned have had a problem where the slot has disintegrated. In this situation you have to remove the rear panel and adjust them from the other side. Once it is set as per the manual you shouldn't need to keep adjusting it.

A small flat blade screwdriver is what you're supposed to use, I've never seen a specific tool for the job. I used to have a set of plastic adjusting tools, one of which fitted perfectly.

If you'r gigging and regularly need to adjust the levels, there is a thread' maybe on this forum or on one of the Hammond and Leslie groups, with photos of a 760 modified to have three replacement pots and knobs mounted on the back plate, so that they were easily set. But as someone pointed out, they weren't recessed so 'easily broken' was another description.

I'm sure you've done the 'correct' setting up. Backing off the master level to halfway, then adjusting treble and bass levels to get the balance you want and then setting the master to the required volume level for the room/stage.
It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.
