  • leslie 2102 mk1 v mk2

    i have been offered a leslie 2101 mk1 at a good price . i will be using using a hammond xm2 module
is there a a sound difference between the 2 models mk1 or mk2
sound quality is the important thing some say it is lacking in the bass is there an adjustment or do i use my sub woofer to , it is only for home use or old concert
    cheers mark
the other thought was using a leslie 760 with a jack lead

The 2101 Mk 1 sounds good on its own, it sounds better with a 2121 (or 2) or other sub. The balance between the highs through the horn and lows through the small speakers/2121s can be adjusted. On the Mk 1 it is done via 2 small recessed pots. On the Mk 2 it is done via the menu and dial. In addition to the line outs, the Mk 2 has speaker outputs so the internal amp can drive those instead of having to use a 2121.

One drawback of the Mk 1 is that the lower rotor (digital simulation) does not completely stop in stop mode it continues to turn very slowly (~1 - 2 RPM). It has not bothered me but it is noticeable to other owners. You could always get the Mk 1 now and add a Mk 2 later. 2 Leslies are always better than one.
