  • Roland VR-760?

I am 'test driving' an older Roland VR-760 that is reasonably priced.(875CA?).
Can't pony up the $ for a newer 'waterfall/drawbars' clone and wondered if anyone else has midi'd a Nord Stage organ to the appropriate CC #'s on a VR-760?
This keybed feels much more robust than the other VR types I've tested? The 'other' sounds on the VR are alright,a few might be useable. It uses expansion cards?
Through a Leslie the VR sounds passable. I would like to use the Nord and assign it's B3 sounds and functions to the VR keybed?

Used waterfall keys on an XK-3 Hammond a few weeks back.
Has me jones-ing for a similar feel on something more affordable and wanted your opinions on the VR-760?
The organ sounds on it seem alright on their own? Similar to the XV3080 module organs?

Thanks in advance for reading and look forward to your input!

Are you worried about the Nord keybed's longevity? We have many Nords, and I don't recall every having to service a keybed.

Not worried at all.Have owned and operated a Nord Stage EX88 for eight years.
I bought it out of rentals......was a Backline rental for two festival seasons before I got it.
      Fatar makes bulletproof keybeds IMO.
Now I have a brand new Stage II EX88, will play it while they overcharge for the Stage III that still won't edit samples.
$ for my II? Door Crasher Boxing Day.....factory sealed brand new Stage II EX88 for half price.
One series behind the latest model ....I'm a Nord fan with my eyes on the $!

Always liked Roland key action, and this VR-760 feels sturdy beside a VR09 or VR-770.
Some people like the Yamaha DX7 keys,I have the TX7 module.....DX7 was also overpriced IMO.
My Roland JX8P also has very nice key action, and a great aftertouch rail!
Roland vintage synths have seen a resurgence in price and popularity.

So far all the CC #'s line up and work,so I'll get some playing time on this older Roland VR-760.
The Roland drawbars seem smooth operating the Nord organ module! So is the ch/vib and perc!
Gotta say, 2nd Harmonic perc on the VR is not it's strong suit......3rd sounds fine.
Nord totally blows the old VR out of the water IMO.
The VR-760 action and drawbars are a decent price so I'm happy!

For half the price of a Nord Stage III 88 I got the Stage II EX88 AND the Roland VR-760!:-)
