The geek in me just couldn't resist playing around with the wife's Allen MDS-16.
I'm now to the point where I can scan a sheet of music and get it into a MIDI format that is readable by the Allen Smart Recorder. The attached PDF file goes in to how I've done it. It's not rocket science, just takes a few words to elaborate. The instructions assume that you have at least some level of comfort with music notation and MIDI file syntax. Hope it helps others who wish to do the same thing get started.
On a whim, I tried the same technique to create a MIDI file for Hauptwerk. While Hauptwerk uses different channels and codes than Allen, the basic technique works. Just substitute your Hauptwerk organ's MIDI record functionality for the Allen Smart Recorder. Doing this, I've been able to convert Allen files to play on the St. Anne's (freebie) Hauptwerk organ.
Enjoy!
