  • Yamaha GX-1 and EX-1 VSTs?

Hi everyone sorry for the absence

Anyways the title pretty much describes it - I'm wondering if there are any software synths that can effectively duplicate the sounds, as well as the effects and even the rhythms of these two legendary Electones...

    No-one's answered this one!

In a word, no. In more words, we've discussed the idea of non Hammond clone VSTi's a few times. The consensus is that the demand for this would be so low that no-one has done it. The GX-1, however, is a synth and there are no doubt synth VSTi's that can emulate this type of synthesis - it should presumably also be able to recreate some of the preset voices of the EX-1 this way. As for organs the only two I've found are two curious little 'home made' VSTi's called 'The Nash' and 'Rawgan'. Not sure if either two are still available, probably not.

As for rhythms, you could analyse and programme their drum patterns very easily and put them into a DAW for playback, but the only analogue drum sets seem to be chasing after the likes of the Roland TR808. It's close, but not that close.
It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

Yamaha CS80 vsts get you some way towards the GX-1. I have the Arturia version. I have created several patches on my Roland MKS-70 that sound close to Benny Andersson’s GX-1 sound.
