  • What recommendations for software to use

I want to find a piece of software that will do the following as a min but I don't know where to even start looking to evaluate . I feel really dumb about this but I want to be able to load by PDF in a file/or on a stick into this software sheets/tunes and then be able to work on them ..adding /changing / modifying / key changes etc It needs to be able to print scores out or save to work on again. Midi In and out is also good or transition to or from midi through an other software package is ok too as long as they can link up somehow and as a minimum at least by saving to a common format ie PDF or midi file etc. It would be great to be able to put this on a lap top and place it ontop of the organ ...to scroll through a score. Does any one have any ideas about software that can do this that is efficient and reliable. Cost effective ...free ware that works is great too.
    Appreciate your thoughts.

    PGR,

There was a thread on this subject a few years ago.

Try searching the Forum for Sibelius and/or PhotoScore Lite. Sibelius is a notation software which allows one to enter music by playing the piano, and the score is created in real time via MIDI. PhotoScore Lite used to be packaged with Sibelius, and would perform an OCR read (optical character recognition) of a PDF file and convert it to an editable Sibelius document.

Hope that helps get you what you need.
