  • Sequencer Help?

Hello, all. We have a Rodgers 677 organ. Could you recommend a sequencer program that would allow us to prerecord and then play back? We’ve tried a couple but haven’t found success.

    Rodgers20,

Welcome to the Forum! I hope you continue to participate here for a time to come.

What sort of computer do you have (i.e. PC or Mac)? Once you provide the model of computer and operating system, we can provide more accurate recommendations. For PC, some use Cakewalk products, and others can recommend a quick and simple version of sequencer. For Mac, I cannot seem to recall the name of the program, but Apple makes a good sequencer for their products as well.

Thanks so much for your reply! A friend was using her laptop that runs on Microsoft Windows. I am guessing that it might be 10? I’m sorry I’m not able to be more specific.

I just happened to think of something. In the 677's menu there are some options about sending data out on MIDI. I think you can set the organ to send or not send various program changes and controller messages. If you weren't successful using a standard sequencer program, perhaps the organ isn't sending out all the data. If you enter the MIDI menu you may find that item, and need to set it to send and receive all data.

Aha! Thank you. I will be back at the church tomorrow, so I’ll try to see about this.

I've used OrganAssist a bit. There are some things it has a hard time with on my organ (an Allen) but it might do everything great on your Rodgers.
