• And about Prog Organ by C.Pykett...

I just started building a small practice organ. For many reasons, I am not interested in HW. I wonder if anybody has some knowledge about Prog Organ.

    http://www.pykett.org.uk

It seems to me that Mr. Pykettknows a lot about pipe organ simulation and brings very interesting points and features.Despite those facts, silence and lack of information are the only things i was able to pick.

I just want a simple good sounding practice organ with a real organ console.

A piece of advice or commentswould be appreciated. Also if any body could give me infos about small speakers for such an organ.

    Thanks ,

I don't quite understand your statement. There is lots of info about Prog Organ on pykett's website including how to get the software (free I think). Also when you said "silence" what did you mean? He's quite good at replying to emails and pretty helpful. It sounds as though maybe you can't see all of his site for some reason, or maybe he didn't reply to you? I don't know, but if you email him and he gets your message you should get a reply.

A SoundFont based VPO hasmore going for it than many people seem to thinkand this one is at the top of the heap IMHO.

      Pierre,

I wonder why you are not interested in HW. Do you know about MyOrgan (do a search on "Kloria"). MyOrgan is free, can be set up with very little trouble, and can be operated from stop switches on your console. It can play HW.1 samples.

        Thanks to all of you,

First , being french , I'm not perhapsso good in expressing my ideas thru a writen forum.

Mr. Pykett is a very généreous man in somany ways and I think I will use his system, on the other side,MyOrgan brings many interesting instruments, including many HW1 works .I am not interested to get HW2 or3 since I am not interested in monster computersand for many other reasons...including those Mr. Devie expressed on Musicprint.

I find many comments ofguys using MyOrgan and some other systems but none of organists using Mr.Pykett design. My goal is to get a good sounding practice instrument and get pleasure using it.. Mr.Pykett highly recommends Joseph Baskin alsacian organ ,but did Mr.baskin put Mr.Pykett in his links list?...No... and , that is what puzzles me. Nodody comments or criticize that system despite it's very obvious qualities and huge knowledge of the man behind it.

Thanks again, and if you have any good recommendations about good speakers (n the small size)...my room is not very large , my virtual organ and Pleyel grand will fill it nicely but completely.

          Hi!

Prog Organ appears to be an ongoing development resource. Subscription to the EOCS - Electronic Organ Constructors Society is not very much and they have an interesting periodical publication that covers members' projects and developments, including descriptions of meetings where things are demonstrated. Such a demonstration of Prog Organ was particularly impressive and he simulated a number of actual and lost pipe organs. Prog Organ is an approach worth pursuing, does not have to run on excessively complex equipment and has no "latency" which I understand is noticable in other systems.

          Best wishes
