  • I've found 11 Rodgers 340's so far. Help me find some more ...

I began the journal of restoring and learning to play the Rodgers 340 organ two years ago. The basic restoration is nearly done and I have learned a lot. Many thanks to those of you here who have answered my questions.

I haven't begin to learn to play yet. That's coming. Just one more tweak to make... :-)

In the two years I have been at this, I have met several kind folks, many through this forum, who have helped me along the way.

I decided to add a map of the remaining 340 organs I am aware of to my blog. www.ThisOld340.com

I have 4 boxes of information that I plan to blog about in the coming year.

If you have a Rodgers 340, I encourage you to click the link so I can add a pin to the map. It does not matter if your organ is analog, like mine, or if you have augmented or converted to fully digital. In fact, if you have any Rodgers 300 Series organ, you will probably find something interesting. I hope you will visit.

If you have or are looking for Rodgers 340 information, I hope you will contact me. I am eager to learn and help others.

I believe that Rodgers only produced about 40 of the model 340. They made about 80 of the 333, fewer of the 327, and of course lots of Trios 320, 321, 322.

For what it's worth, I've been collecting information and anecdotes on the number of 340's made. Lots of variations. Between this forum, the Rodgers Theater Organ Users group on Yahoo, and personal emails, here's what I have pieced together so far: Approximately 80 stock 340's made. These begin with serial 34xxxx. Then, there were customized versions of the 340, apparently these have serial 39xxxx. Some have suggested that there of 80 of these custom 340s. Again, just is just my compilation from various forums, including OrganForum and RTOU; it may not be factual.

        I just acquired a Rodgers 340 today, so mine can be #12 S/N 34348

This is my first post, but I've been lurking for a while. I live in Los Angeles and played piano and organ when I was younger, and thought it would be fun to have something like that in the house again. Been looking on CL, organ forum classifieds, and ebay for an Allen or Rodgers, and got very lucky last week. Found this 340 only a couple miles from my house, at the original owner's residence where it has sat since new in 1974 and played very little. It came complete with a Rodgers Glock, W3 speaker, W6 speaker, M13 speaker, and Leslie 245. Even has all the original paperwork, order form, sales contract, invoice, receipts, cancelled check, and sales brochure. The family was very nice and we became friends over the last week during this passing of a family heirloom.

Eric I think the info in your posts and website are very interesting and enjoy reading them. Your interest and enthusiasm for the 340 is inspiring, especially your plan of learning to play on an instrument like this. I played years ago and it's quite a handful! Anyways, looking forward to chatting and learning more.
