  • Gulbransen organ - give away

My mom lives in Knoxville, TN. She's played organ/piano professionally for many years and recently had a stroke.
    She has a Gulbransen organ model 5118, serial # 116909, 250 watt, 60 Hz.

In the past she transported and played it in larger public venues. So I'm not sure if it's considered a home or theater organ. The power switch works as do many of the percussion stops. However, the keyboard isn't functioning.

Rather than dispose of it - we're trying to find a someone in east Tennessee or nearby states who is might want this organ as a repair project.

Her home is being sold this month and the organ has to go.

I appreciate any suggestions toward finding it a home and avoiding the dump.

    Thank you,

    Ward Mann

The 5118 Premiere could be classed as a theatre electronic or a home organ, it's both!

From the serial number, I'd take a guess that it was the 9th Premiere made in November 1969. That IS a guess but the Premiere ran from 1967 to 1972. Not surprising that after all that time, it now has issues. It's value is limited to what the console, pedals and bench might be worth to someone who would probably gut it and use it to drive a software based organ. the chances of finding someone who wants to take on a repair/restoration project are slim. However, you've asked in the right place.

You could consider advertising it locally only, or on Ebay. And there is a dedicated section of the forum for classified ads.

Strictly speaking I should ask you to place a classified ad, and then delete this thread but given the circumstances regarding your mother, this thread is fine right here. I hope you can find someone who will at least do something with the organ, it's one of the models I grew up playing years ago.
It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

Thank you for the detailed reply Andy. Also for the leeway on the posting. I'll give eBay a try too.
